Restoration Style Baby French Provincial Dresser with Topper......
So I got a new buyer who was looking for a dresser like this one from restoration hardware for baby plus painted liked it. She wanted it with more curves like a french provincial style. Plus she wanted a changing topper like the ones they sell at restoration hardware so when the baby grows she can take it off and use it as a dresser.
So I showed her this one I had, told her we could take the top off and make it into what she wanted...
she didn't want the french handles though so she got the rounded knobs....
So we took the top off, sanded it down, took the back off....
filled in the holes that held the top together with the bottom...
then John cut a piece of wood to match the curves on the curved piece
the top part of the dresser was attached to
so he can make the baby changing topper..
placed it on the bottom for support...
we filled in the holes so we could use only the single knobs....
primed it and painted it with multiple coats for primer and paint...
we put together the changing topper...
added some felt to the topper so it wouldn't scratch the top of the dresser...
added some hinges to the back so she can lift it if she needs to clean....
replaced the back with a new board...
she wanted it painted like the other one,
so she went to restoration hardware to get the matching paints....
I distressed it in certain spots .....
painted the groved parts the sage color...
painted the outside trim of the drawers also the sage...
distressed the sage parts and some of the cream parts...
She loved it! I do too :) Looks really good.
